DAY 1

Catania & Siracusa

We will begin our Sicilian holiday with a guided tour of Catania, perhaps the most eclectic and lively city in Sicily.

Starting from Piazza Duomo in the historic center, we will admire the particular architecture of the square with its baroque buildings and the famous Elefant Fountain, symbol of the city.

Do not miss a visit to the Pescheria, the central fish market and one of the largest fish markets in Italy, to appreciate the bright colors and unique smells, accompanied by uninterrupted shouts of fishermen who sell fresh products.

We will taste a typical Sicilian Arancino together and then we will head south towards Syracuse, a city with a thousand-year history, with its monuments of the Greek era and Sicilian Baroque.

The particularity of Syracuse is that its historic center is located on an island, Ortigia. Small and easy to explore by crossing its narrow streets lined with charming churches, Ortigia is full of palaces and squares that offer a relaxing atmosphere of beauty.

DAY 2

Marzamemi & Noto

To discover ancient Syracuse we must absolutely see its archaeological park, known for its spectacular ruins, but above all the Greek theater which dates back to at least the fifth century BC. and the Roman Amphitheater, built in the third century AD, which with its 140 meters in length is one of the most impressive that can be found.

A relaxing and rejuvenating moment is undoubtedly the visit of Marzamemi.

A typical fishing village where you can still breathe the air of an ancient and traditional Sicily. The old town center is located on a small cape and organized around the picturesque Piazza Regina Margherita. On the south side is the small fishing port with the charming old trap. Narrow streets lead off the main square, offering glimpses of the turquoise sea.

To understand the sense of beauty of Sicilian Baroque, a Unesco World Heritage Site, you must visit Noto, the Baroque capital of Sicily. A walk on foot is the best way to discover the eighteenth-century beauties admiring the imposing churches and the wonderful facades and balconies of the noble palaces.

DAY 3

Ragusa & Agrigento

We continue towards the city of Ragusa, considered one of the most picturesque cities in Sicily.

Ragusa has become particularly famous in recent years as one of the main filming locations for Inspector Montalbano's detective film.

The city is divided into two parts but the small Ragusa Ibla really attracts visitors. The historic center is compact, making it easy to visit on foot in a few hours.

Lost in the countryside and near Ragusa is the fascinating Donnafugata castle.

The castle with white facades and the Venetian Gothic loggia gives people a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Combining architectural style and landscape style, this is a good example of the eclecticism of that era. Here tourists can spend a few hours cheerfully, because there are always new & quot; surprises & quot; when they wander in the spectacular garden with the only stone labyrinth in Europe and places with special effects. In fact, if you venture to the entrance of a small church, a statue of a bearded monk will try to hug you!

Returning to the Greek era of Sicily, we will reach the city of Agrigento to visit its iconic Valley of the Temples. The guide will allow us to discover and learn about the history of this magnificent archaeological park, which is made up of eight temples (and various other ruins), built between 510 and 430 BC.

DAY 4

Scala dei turchi, Selinunte & Marsala

Sicily is famous for its mix of artistic and architectural, but also landscape beauties!

And then the time comes to visit a place of extreme natural beauty, the Scala dei Turchi. The rock is composed of soft limestone and dense white marl.

Nature is a great artist: over time, with the help of the ocean and the salty breeze, this material becomes soft and curved, creating terraces and smoothing every corner. Just be careful not to slip, especially on wet rocks.

Along the beach near La Scala it is possible to immerse yourself in the crystalline seato enjoy a few moments of healthy relaxation.

Then, we will move towards Selinunte, one of the largest archaeological sites in Sicily.

The park is located in the southwest of the island and includes Greek temples, ancient city walls, remains of residential and commercial buildings, rural paths and areas yet to be excavated.

We will take a break in the small fishing village of Marinella, where you can also decide to have lunch and swim on the beautiful beach overlooking the Acropolis.

We head west to Marsala, the city of the famous wine, and we will reach the tourist port, where a short boat ride will take us to the island of Mozia, an interesting archaeological site in western Sicily, between Trapani and Marsala.

The site was once an important colony of Carthage: here we will find a small museum and numerous sites to visit.

We will admire the famous statue of the Motya Charioteer, a marble sculpture dating back to the classical period of ancient Greece.

DAY 5

Erice & Riserva dello Zingaro

We continue to the picturesque medieval town of Erice, which is in a magnificent position 800 mt. above sea level.

It is not surprising that, due to its strategic position, Erice has been occupied by many civilizations. By the Greeks and Carthaginians to the Romans and Arabs, and finally to the Normans.

We enjoy some free time to explore the narrow streets of the city on foot, and we will taste the famous sweets on one of the panoramic terraces at sunset.

We take a break from the attractions of the island, heading towards the north coast to discover on foot one of the best examples of idyllic Mediterranean landscapes.

The Zingaro Nature Park which stretches for 7 kilometers along the coast, from the enchanting village of Scopello in the east to San Vito Lo Capo to the west, with some magnificent paths overlooking the cliffs and the blue sea and beaches.

We reach Palermo, a city always on the move and worthy to be called capital thanks to its history since the times of Arab domination.

Palermo & Monreale

An interesting walk in the historic center of Palermo to discover some masterpieces of Arab-Norman art.

These are monuments of extraordinary beauty, expressions of the happy coexistence of different cultures that in the twelfth century generated an original architectural style in which they are admirably merged Byzantine, Islamic and Norman elements.

We will visit Monreale to admire its extraordinary cathedral, which is considered the greatest example of Norman architecture in the world.

A large area of the interior is covered by shining golden mosaics, which feature interesting combination of Norman, Byzantine and Islamic art formed in the most glorious period of Sicily.

In the late afternoon, a local expert guide will take us on a walking tour of the historic center of Palermo, visiting some of the most iconic monuments of the city, including the Royal Palace where the oldest Parliament in Europe is located, the famous Palatine Chapel, the Martorana, the Church of Santa Caterina, the Quattro Canti, Piazza Pretoria, and Piazza Marina.

DAY 9

Alcantara Gorges and Savoca

Staying in the Taormina area, we will use a day to visit the impressive Alcantara Gorges.

These gorges are a unique feature in the natural landscape in Italy, and are one of the must-see attractions in Sicily.

The gorges are real canyons made up of black lava walls up to 50 meters high and have the typical prismatic shape formed during cooling.

We will conclude our Sicilian tour with the Godfather tour, one of the most popular excursions on the Don Corleone trail in the beautiful village of Savoca.
